Help build and preserve the Great Divide Trail in the Rocky Mountains of Canada
Your gift to The Great Divide Trail Association will help us build, maintain, and protect the Great Divide Trail and preserve its wilderness experience for generations to come. It will assist us in educating trail users and the public about this significant trail and encourage its use consistent with the scenic and wilderness values of the Canadian Rockies.
The Great Divide Trail traverses the continental divide between Alberta and British Columbia, wandering through the vast wilderness of the Canadian Rocky Mountains for more than 1,100 kilometres. It is one of the most spectacular and challenging long-distance trails in the world.
The GDTA will allocate your donation to fund our most pressing needs. Our priorities are:
- Build 45 km of new trail along the High Rock Section of the Great Divide Trail (GDT)
- Construct a new bridge spanning a treacherous portion of Cairnes Creek along the historic David Thompson Heritage Trail section of the GDT
- Maintain over a hundred kilometres of trail along the GDT route
- Provide up-to-date trip planning resources for hikers and equestrians on our website and social media.
- Present educational and safety workshops and events for trail users and the public
- Advocate for the formal recognition and protection of the GDT.
